Homework
Why does my child have homework? In 2nd grade, the primary purpose of homework is to give students a chance to practice what has been taught, prepare for Word Study and math fact tests, build confidence, and begin to build important life skills like organization and time management.
How much homework will my child have? Students will have no more than 20 minutes of non-reading homework each night during the school week (Monday through Thursday).
What kind of homework will my child be expected to complete? With a few exceptions, math and Word Study homework can be expected every Monday-Thursday. Homework is always due back to school the next day. Students are also expected to read the "just right book" they bring home for 20+ minutes nightly, complete
the reading log, and have it initialed by an adult.
Where can I find answers to Home Links homework worksheets? Everyday Math has a very user friendly family page called EM4 at Home. Click on the link and then on the unit we are studying and you will find answers to the specific Home Link pages, and additional information, lesson by lesson.
