Meet Mrs. Tappen
St. Andrew's School 2nd Grade Class 2014-2015
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Kathy Tappen
and I will be your child’s second grade teacher. I graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. I also received a Masters Degree in teaching from Mary Baldwin College. This my sixth year teaching second grade (my fifth year at St. Andrew's School).
After working in the field of advertising/marketing for nearly 20 years, I retired to spend more time with my family and to ultimately pursue a teaching career. I have taught in various capacities in preschool through 5th grade since 2006, primarily in independent schools including St. Christopher's School and St. Andrew's School.
Though I spent my early childhood in upstate New York and have lived in many different cities (Boston, Dallas, New York City, Atlanta, and Los Angeles), I consider Richmond home. I have lived here for more than 22 years, am married, and have a 17-year-old son who is entering his junior year in high school.
Please feel free to contact me anytime with any questions, comments, or concerns.
